Dose anyone know if the movie Cat and the Canary 1939 is public domain? If so, haas anyone got it? I am asking, because my 75 year old mother heard about as a child. Her siblings told her about it, but she never got to see it. It would mean a lot to her if I can get it.
Thank you.

I don't know about PD, but it's available at
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000V6S5K/imdb-button/

It's not cheap, though.

That's robbery! It looks like it's out of circulation and they've burned their own copies (region free). It isn't listed in the US Copyright records.

Hi this DVD is readily available in the UK. The quality is not great as it looks like it was taken from an old umatic master or something similar. Not as good as the version transmitted quite frequently on TV here. I love the movie and its companion piece Ghostbreakers.(Ghostbreakers is better-I also love the Martin and Lewis remake Scared Stiff) Comedy Horror is a lost genre today as the cynicism of modern humour dosnt really work with the supernatural.
